ZIC ZERP Gallery warmly welcomes you for the solo-exhibition ‘Almost Nature’ by Gerco de Ruijter (1961, Vianen) on Saturday 04 February 2012 from 15:00 until 18:00.

Gerco de Ruijter is well known for his landscape photographs that are realistic as well as miraculous. The displayed landscapes are photographed with the help of a remote controlled camera hanging on a Japanese kite; the photographs are taken on heights between 10 and 100 meters. The unusual bird view in his photographs results in, at a first glance, a game of abstract variations until the dizzying moment that one recognizes the origin.
It is fascinating how De Ruijter estimates textures, the direction of the wind, and the lighting, while standing on the ground. These photos are composed geometrically; the picture adjustment and the distance from the subject help to create the impression of abstract geometric paintings.
